Wow! We got so much snow! Stay warm and drive safe out there! FYI: Report cards are going home today. Please make sure to open them with your parents. Tomorrow: Last Day before Winter Break: - Carols in the gym at 8:15am - Everyone welcome! - Your choice of dress - PJ Day, Jersey Day, Festive clothes day, etc. - We are watching Charlotte's Web in the morning to compare the setting and characters to the novel - We are having our Winter Party with Strategic Games in the afternoon - A HUGE thank you to all of the families who are sending in food items for the party. We very much appreciate it! *If you were absent today and ordered a fun lunch from Boston Pizza, your fun lunch is in the staff room fridge. Happy Tuesday!
Our students have read the classic story, "Charlotte's Web" by E.B. White over the past month as part of our literacy work. They have reflected on various aspects of the story and we would like to show them the movie before the break to make a comparison. All staff, students and volunteers and welcome to join in the fun! Each day is an optional event. Mrs.Baradoy taught us about Acrostic Poems. An acrostic poem uses a topic word. Take each letter in the word and write a word that relates to your topic. Making Memories Night This will be an open house style evening for you and your family to visit with neighbours and make some holiday memories at Prince of Wales school. Thursday, December 14 6:30 - 7:30pm Mayor’s Food Drive We are collecting food and money for the Food Bank. Please bring in donations this week. We Club This is a group of Grade 5 and 6 students who want to make a difference in the community. They have been busy working on projects to raise money to help others. See below for some of their projects: Making Memories Sale On the evening of the Making Memories Sale, our WE Club students will be selling ornaments and some other handmade items. All proceeds will be split between the Drop In Center, our adopted family and the Food Bank. The week before the Making Memories night, we will be showing off some of our beautiful handicrafts to entice some sales the evening of December 14th. Fill a Sock, Fill a Need, Fill a Heart You have probably seen the boxes and posters placed around the school for this initiative already. We are accepting donations to fill socks for the homeless at the Drop In Center to open on Christmas morning. Giving Tree We have adopted a family with 10 children that have just moved out of “In from the Cold” and they are not being supported by them anymore. There will be tags for needs to be filled for each of the family members. This tree will be put out on the Making Memories Night for families to participate and support this family in need. We have had a week of beautiful weather! However, many people seem be getting sick! So, take care of yourselves! -cough or sneeze into your arm instead of not covering your mouth, or use a tissue -keep your hand away from your face/mouth unless you are eating -wash your hands with warm water and soap- before eating, after sneezing etc. Speaking of illness..... Mrs. Hewitt is away today and possibly tomorrow if she is still sick! We welcome Mrs. Masson! FYI Grade 2 is collecting non-perishable food items and/or money for the Food Drive.
